Subject:   Pesky Installation Problem & Broadway Photo

Message Posted

I ran into some problems trying to install the scanner software on a Windows 2000 system via the USB interface.

The automatic installation routine somehow installed the Spanish version of the Twain driver (despite the fact that i selected English).

All attempts to reinstall the English version failed. Tech support referred me to Powershot website to download a new driver, which has a "coming soon" remark next to the file name. Per Norman Koran's website I went to Canon's European site and downloaded the driver, but upon installation it's calling for the file biccrct.dll, which I've searched for on my computer, my CD rom, and the web. No luck. Any advice?

Also, Caveat Emptor if you're thinking about buying from Broadway Photo (about $100 cheaper than B&H or Adorama). They originally sent me the Japanese version of the software and manuals. I called and they re-sent a photocopied "getting started" manual and a home-burned sofware CD. I suspect there's some kind of scam going on, and a quick search on the web does reveal all sorts of reports of unethical business practices.
