Have you tried scanning 35 mm films and found them sharper? Perhaps it's your expectations that are high -- When looking at the scan in 1:1 on screen I think any film scanned with any scanner looks quite soft.

How fast are the APS films you've been scanning? ISO 100? 200? 400? 800?
