BEWARE THE FAULTY SCANNER. Judging by this board there have been a number of customers with bad machines, so if you are purchasing one, beware you are playing roulette. My experience has the scanner going into a high pitched whine while scanning and then locking with the green light flashing. After dealing with the typical customer-unfriendly phone system, I sent it in for repairs with Canon Canada, with a request to be contacted to confirm the problem. After theyb had it for a week, my phone call prompted them to put a rush on it, and they promised a one day courier return delivery. When it arrived, a week later, it had not been sent on one day and it had not been repaired. They did clean it for me, but did not phone. I now have sent it back to Canon via the store where I purchased it, but all I can do is hope it does not go to the same mechanic. I am two and a half weeks into thissecond round of repair and now the promise is for one more week. My advice is to stay away from this model. The unreliable scanner and the poor response for service are too much of a risk. Does anyone know of other bulletin boards where I can warn the unsuspecting?
