Jim, Yes, Vuescan takes advantage of FARE dust removal. I'm not sure how well it does compared to FilmGet; I haven't compared them recently. I've heard it doesn't perform quite as well, but I haven't had time to verify it. When Hamrick first started supporting the FS4000, there were numerous improvements in the claimed dust removal capability. It seems to have settled down. Vuescan's ability to handle color adjustments is also limited, but you can play with the trial version before you buy. I use Vuescan primarily for scanning panoramic images on my HP S20. It works nicely, but the last time I checked, it was slower than Filmget with the Canon. This may be due to its dust removal algorithm.
