The main reason I'm still using USB is that SCSI is very fussy; I have never figured out a reliable way to make it work, but it has worked occasionally for me. I don't think it offers very much speed advantage. That's the conclucion in Carl Smith's new comparison of the Nikon and Canon scanners on
