Is there any software supplied on the CD-ROM, with the exception of the "Filmget" driver, that is essential for operating the Canoscan FS4000US?

The reason for asking is that I am an Australian currently living and working in Japan, and all the Canon products sold here come with the Japanese version of the software. I have bought several other Canon products here and you cannot get an English copy of software because of some licensing issues. I have even tried Canon in the US, and they will not help me either.
