Subject:   Kodak-processed color negatives

Message Posted

I am relatively new to film scanning & apologize if this is a dumb question. I have no trouble with & get excellent results from scanning 35mm slide & color negatives from many processors. However I have some important 35mm color negatives that have been processed by Kodak. They are encased in plastic film, cemented to one edge, with a paper strip cemented to the opposite edge (obviously for Kodak's convenience). This arrangement has me confused. Should I try to scan through the 2 layers of plastic or should I remove all these additions back to a bare negative strip? Will I be shooting myself in the foot if I do either? Please help!
